London Corner GTS Dumbarton School
Briefly, the discovery that two sponsors, unknown to each other, were funding the feeding programme for the above school, the community of Dumbarton, Scotland under their priest Father Kenny decided it would be better to open a new nursery school and invited parents to transfer their children to the new nursery.
Many children transferred and the school now has three classrooms, a feeding programme and a medical programme that provides for all children to be examined once each term.
The funding of Dumbarton London Corner is totally from the caring community of Dumbarton but the school is administered by GETS who receive an administration fee to assist with the expenses incurred in supporting the school.
Dumbarton’s community commitment is high and to be applauded. The preferred autonomy and added control afforded by registration as a separate Scottish charity has now been obtained by Dumbarton.
Although externally funded it is still viewed very much as a GETS project. Having been established before the educational projects came under the charity GETS, the school’s name still reflects the important input of the the original charity GTS.
