Education
in Gambia

Building the nursery  school
at Bakoteh.

It was recognised that the structure of the original charity had to change. The need for two separate (but mutually supportive) charities was vital. The obvious structures being: -

A) To maintain, develop, manage and raise the funds for current and future employment opportunities by supporting tourists in The Gambia and increasing membership.

B) To maintain, manage and raise funds for the current and future educational projects including implementation of the prioritised educational curriculum. To build a large supportive membership.

Thus GETSuk was born and is now a separate UK registered charity
but one which retains and is mutually supportive to the original
and respected Gambian registered charity -
Gambia Tourist Support (GTS)

and

Gambia Tourist Support

Almost ready
to open

The separation took 18 months, to gain charitable status and  the Gift Aid facility for GETS but also to make the separation  of responsibilities clear and workable. Totally self-funding and dedicated trustees backed by supportive members of both  charities now have clear areas of responsibility.

It is sound and safe and, with continued and increasing support, will over the years continue to strengthen and provide education at a standard which is of real value to the Gambian people and is nothing less than they deserve.

 In school at last!

Applications for membership of one or both charities
are warmly welcomed, as are offers of help to meet
the separate but equally important aims.

We hope you find all of our pages both informative and useful.
