GETS will be expanding the Educational Resources Skills Centre as soon as funding is secured. This will provide the means to produce resource materials specifically for schools.

Every school & teacher needs equipment & GETS is now attempting to source as much as possible in 'The Gambia.'

These resources will also be for sale, so that tourists can purchase educational materials, not just for GETS schools but for the schools they already support and sponsor. Many items can be made in Gambia and our skill's workshop will develop what it is able to produce.

The resource's shop will supply as wide a variety of items as possible, from pencils and paper to sets of worksheets, number, alphabet and shapes, stencils and hopefully McDonald Posters.

Many of the operators have now stopped providing extra baggage for charity items, it was heavily abused and all the charities are now suffering.

Also available will be the ECO kettle developed by GTS member Ian Ratcliffe, this kettle boils 1.5 litres of water in approx 5 minutes using just waste paper, card etc.

We will be most grateful for donations to help us stock this venture which will be a first in Gambia providing items specifically used in school sand in support of Education. In addition the centre will provide sustainable employment for up to 4 Gambian staff.

We hope to stock a complete range of the Gambian handmade paper products from the PRSP project in FajiKunda as well as some less commercial handmade objects from Gambian craftsmen and women.

The income from sales will fund the resource materials, wood, paints varnish etc and provide the wages for the employees.

At the AGM in May 2006 a number of members present offered to help. Francis sent all of those people (and others ) an email in late May with attached documents.

One of the recipients was McDonald Posters.
