Projects
GETS has supported many projects in The Gambia since our formation and by clicking on the projects listed above you will be able to find out more about each of them.
Bakoteh Nursery School and St Peters School are both now closed. Children from Bakoteh now attend Sunrise Centre.
GETS and Castellan West African Project merged in 2009 but recently CWAP has formed its own charity and the partnership was dissolved. This is a fascinating project based in Bwiam now called Castellan African Trust
London Corner School continues to operate and is administered by GETS on behalf of Dumbarton.
Bakoteh Community Library is the project funded by Helen Touray, our Gambian administrator, and her brother Peter.
Sponsorship has been the mainstay of GETS for many years and we have provided more than 500 students with an education.
Our exciting new project is the Sunrise Centre which opened in January 2011 with 2 Nursery classes and 3 Skills Classes. Volunteers from the UK help with teacher training here, But GETS sponsors two of our Sunrise nursery teachers to attend the course at Gambia Teaching Training College in order to obtain their Early Child Development Certificate.
